Psychological therapies such as Counselling, Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) are increasingly
used to help with mental or emotional difficulties.

Many people go through periods when painful experiences, difficult memories from the past, worries about the future or personal problems in relationships, careers, health or family life,  make it difficult to cope with everyday life. Talking through these issues with a well trained and experienced therapist in a safe, therapeutic relationship can help you to find different ways of thinking, feeling and understanding which can lead to insight and change.

The work also involves high-lighting your strengths, reviewing your coping mechanisms together, with a view to changing them if necessary.

Perhaps the problem is very specific and a few sessions and brief interventions may be all you want or need to cope more effectively. Perhaps it feels important to look deeper, to allow time to make self discoveries, for reconciliation and for coming to terms with that which we cannot change.

That is why I offer psychotherapy, counselling or a cognitive behavioural (CBT) approach to the work, and time limited (usually 6-12 sessions) or open ended therapy. It depends on what you feel you need and want. Usually, we would talk about this during the first couple of sessions.
